Parent Satisfaction Survey
Thank you for taking
the time to complete our recent parent survey. Based upon comments made, we are
making several changes for next year to make Back to School Night an even
better experience for all.
For
example:
Many respondents commented that they felt that getting
their Picture Form in a separate mailing was is not the best use of resources.
While it was sent by Lifetouch using their resources, I contacted our
representative to ask if an alternative method of communication could be considered
by the company. We await their decision.
Our
supply list will be broken down by subjects to assist in getting organized.
We are hoping to make
student schedules available online at least 24 hours in advance.
We are investigating
ways to print the student schedule larger.
A map of the building
will be available both online in advance and at the schedule pick-up table.
To help lessen
hallway congestion, teachers will be in their classrooms to meet and greet
families.
Our
band teacher will schedule a general Q. and A. session for parents before Back
to School Night starts and midway through the evening so that all frequently
asked questions can be answered at one time, lessening the wait time to greet
him personally.
Since
the vast majority of parents surveyed a few years back were not happy when we
ran a mock schedule, we will continue to offer less structure on Back to School
Night.
In
addition, we have to continue to accommodate all three grades on one night and
on the same date as TOMS since we only have four hours available for teachers
to work and many students cross the street between the two buildings.
98% of those responding indicated that they would prefer
getting “back to school information” via e-mail. Therefore, next summer we will
send information electronically followed by an automated phone call alert to
all families.

TARGET donates $3,215.42
Because you designated our school and shopped with your Target® Visa® or Target® Card, we recently received a donation from Target through their Take Charge of Education® program. The $3,215.42 was used to supplement purchasing and installation of new Smart Boards and Smart Response System. A big thanks—we couldn’t have done it without you.
Remember, grandparents, alumni, friends or neighbors can help too. (They don’t even have to be a local resident). Program details can be found at target.com/tcoe or by calling 1-800-316-6142.

National Stomp Out Bullying Day HOMS Style!
Monday, October 1st, National Stomp Out Bullying Day!
Thank you to all HOMS staff and students who wore blue to support the prevention of bullying. Last week 8th grade WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) Leaders made posters for various activities planned for today! We even had several WEB Leaders at school last night to trace their feet with chalk!
During Primetime today:
8th graders signed a giant foot saying that they believe bullying needs to to end
7th graders wrote one thing they can do to end bullying
6th graders traced their foot with chalk on the sidewalk behind the school
Right Turn Only 6:50-7:15
Watch for a
“Right Turn Only 6:50-7:15 am” sign that will be posted at the exit from the
lower lot. Drivers are being asked to go
North on Fish Point Rd and either continue to Hwy 13 or loop through the
neighborhood to return to 160th St/CR 44. Look for a list serve with a map attachment
to assist you with the change.
The adults
at the crosswalk will do everything they can to move as many cars through
before the crossing of the students begins.
This change
is desperately needed. If we can’t get
vehicles out, we can’t get vehicles in.
We need your cooperation with this change and appreciate your continued
efforts to not block the intersection to the driveway for bus drop off.
