SCSU Math Contest

Congratulations to the 49 Hidden Oaks and Twin Oaks Middle School students who competed in the forty-seventh annual St. Cloud State University Mathematics Contest April 3.

More than 2,000 students representing 51 schools from across Minnesota competed for awards that were given to the top 10% of students in each grade level (gr. 7-12)

Earning recognition certificates for being in the top 5% of competitors were 7th graders Gabby Sumner (Hidden Oaks), Carter Mong (Twin Oaks) and Sam Zellmer (Twin Oaks), as well as 8th grader Max Christopherson (Hidden Oaks). More than 500 7th graders participated in the contest.

Following the math contest students participated in a variety of activities around campus including a show at the planetarium about space exploration, chess and Sudoku competitions and a demonstration about CAD drawings and 3D printing.

Middle School Synergy Program Coordinator Becky Smith helped students prepare for the contest and accompanied them in St. Cloud.
